Astrology Outlook for July

A lot has been said recently about Jupiter’s monumental transit in Gemini and its implications for us. In the curious and scientific world of planet Mercury, the ruler of Gemini, spiritual and wise Jupiter is a bit at odds. But this position makes for a powerful combination of energies for unbiased analysis of our beliefs, dogmas and prejudices.

Fortunately until next year, major blessings for all will come from Jupiter’s aspects to Libra (the 5th house from Jupiter’s position), Sagittarius (7th house) and finally Aquarius (9th house). Anyone with planets in those signs will benefit. But much needed relief is already reaching those (most of us) who have been burdened by the influence of the lunar node Rahu in the sign of Libra next to slow Saturn, planet of service, obstacles and perseverance. Saturn has been exalted in Libra, meaning in a very good position, and is now about to turn back — so to speak – on July 7th to his forward motion after a long retrograde. Through the influence of Rahu in the same sign of the scales and justice, many have felt pressure in different areas of their lives as strange, even disquieting emotions appeared in our dealings with others. So, Jupiter currently aspecting this difficult conjunction is definitely a godsend for all.

Given that soon direct Saturn is due to face the malefic Rahu, Jupiter can literally save the day by bringing hope and wisdom. Hopefully neutrality and common sense will prevail in world affairs. Business, too, will get a boost from Jupiter in Gemini because Jupiter signifies wealth at large and Mercury cash money and business. This Jupiter/Mercury close association could be one of the reasons why many of the people I know are lately discovering within an interest in astrology–Mercury is also a significator of both astronomy and astrology, while Jupiter represents transcendence and expansion. Together they increase the focus on spiritual and scientific studies.

Meanwhile, Mercury is still retrograde in his own sign making this an ‘easier retrograde’ than most. Expect thoughtfulness in matters of the past and resolution in long-standing dilemmas.Venus is in romantic and emotional Cancer until the 17th  bringing focus on family and our attachment to our loved ones. Mars will move to Gemini, crowding the sky in this location and joining Mercury, the Sun and Jupiter.

The Sun will move away to Cancer on the 16th. This water sign is not the happiest place for the ‘King Sun’ but the change will bring relief to the planets in Gemini and to family matters. As, Sam Geppi, my Vedic astrology guru puts it, “This [Sun in Cancer] begins a 30 day focus on themes related to the heart, and uniting our ideas with our intuition.”

To conclude, I want to mention a very special Capricorn full Moon on July 22—I will soon write about this—called Guru Poornima in Vedic—a time to cherish our teachers of the present, past and future. It is a great time to honor all those who have graced us with their knowledge. This Moon marks also a good time to turn to the ‘sadguru’ or guru within. We all possess a higher wisdom that is beyond long-held beliefs and sometimes we need a reminder to tap into it.

Good luck with your endeavors! Keep your positivity and hope. “Good things will happen.”
